A political debate is gaining momentum in Njaba State Constituency after Mazi Ike and Comrade Ikwugbado Kennedy Chukwuebuka publicly exchanged views over whether Hon. Ezengwori’s first-term performance justifies calls for a second term.

The conversation, which has attracted attention across Umuaka and other communities in Njaba centres on a key democratic question: Should continuity be earned through a documented record of performance or has Hon. Ezengwori’s record already spoken for itself?

Mazi Ike Calls for a Documented Scorecard, In his article titled “Let the Record Speak,” Mazi Ike argued that while experience, commitment and continuity are important qualities in leadership, they should be supported by verifiable evidence of performance.

He maintained that before voters are asked to renew Hon. Ezengwori’s mandate, they deserve a clear first-term scorecard outlining his legislative contributions, constituency projects, youth empowerment initiatives, scholarships, employment opportunities and development interventions attracted to Njaba.

According to him, these are not attacks but legitimate questions every elected representative should be prepared to answer.

Mazi Ike also acknowledged reports of educational assistance and community support attributed to the lawmaker but argued that personal philanthropy should not be mistaken for legislative performance.

Comrade Ikwugbado: “The Record Already Exists” Comrade Ikwugbado Kennedy Chukwuebuka argued that the evidence critics seek is already visible across Njaba.

He noted that a legislator’s responsibility extends beyond constructing roads and hospitals, saying representation also includes legislation, motions, advocacy and constituency interventions.

He cited numerous projects and interventions he attributed to Hon. Ezengwori across communities including Nkume, Amucha, Atta, Uba, Acharaji, Umuele, Ibele, Obeakpu, Amakor, Isiozi, Amiyi and Ugbele.

Among the interventions listed were borehole projects, school improvements, transformer support, cement donations, market construction, village hall assistance, streetlight support and educational interventions.

He also highlighted the January 3, 2026 constituency empowerment programme at Central School Umuaka, where productive assets including shuttle buses, motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines and other equipment were reportedly distributed to beneficiaries across Njaba.

On legislative performance, Comrade Ikwugbado referenced motions relating to vigilante operations across Imo State and advocacy connected to the Nwerre–Nwagele–Isu–Afor Umuaka–Ukwuoji Road which supporters say has advanced towards construction.

The exchange between Mazi Ike and Comrade Ikwugbado Kennedy Chukwuebuka reflects growing public interest in accountability as political discussions ahead of the next election continue to intensify in Njaba.

While one side insists that voters deserve a comprehensive documented scorecard before considering continuity, the other argues that Hon. Ezengwori’s projects, legislative interventions and constituency engagements already provide substantial evidence of performance.

As political activities gather pace, residents of Njaba are expected to hear more from aspirants and their supporters as the contest for the constituency seat unfolds.

For now, both sides agree on one principle, let the people examine the evidence and decide.
