Tension in parts of Umuaka reached a climax as residents of Isiozi Akah particularly around Umuokwaranwaneri collectively evicted Mr. Tobenna from Umulolo Umuezeala Uba over serious allegations of fetishism, occultism and ritualistic activities.

According to eyewitnesses and video footage circulating widely on social media, the community acted after intelligence reports and confirmation that Tobenna was allegedly engaging in occult practices targeting his own siblings, Umuezeala kinsmen and some traditional chiefs in the area.

Items recovered during the operation included papers believed to contain names of his brothers, relatives and certain chiefs — documents allegedly used in rituals to “tie destinies,” hinder progress and exert spiritual control over victims.

Mr Tobenna accused by his half-brother Chidi, of using ritual powers to cause the deaths of his senior brother, sister and mother.

The accused was reportedly previously banished and excommunicated from his paternal village (Umulolo Umuezeala Uba and his maternal home in Ibele umuaka due to similar concerns.

locals described the accused as a “trouble shooter” whose activities had caused deep divisions and fear within families and the community.
Residents expressed relief and joy following the successful eviction, describing the action as a necessary step to safeguard lives and restore peace in the environment. Many referred to him as a “devil’s reincarnate” who had overstayed his welcome.

A community member who spoke on condition of anonymity said:
“We had no other option. The man had become a threat to everyone around him.”

Umuaka News 24 notes that these are community-level allegations based on local accounts and videos. As at the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation or police statement on the matter and Tobenna is yet to respond publicly to the accusations.

The Njaba LGA Council and the Imo State Police Command are urged to intervene swiftly carry out a thorough investigation and ensure that law and order prevail while protecting the rights of all parties involved.
