Umuaka, Imo State – A fresh land dispute has erupted in Amiyi Akah Autonomous Community as Mr. Michael Amarachi Ihentuge of Amiyi has accused HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu (Iyi 1 of Amiyi Akah) of undermining a peace process by purchasing the disputed land for personal profit.
In a strongly worded statement made available to Umuaka News24, Mr. Ihentuge alleged that he and his family brought a contested piece of land to the Eze’s palace seeking peaceful resolution. Instead, he claims the traditional ruler secretly bought the land from the defendant and later resold it, thereby worsening the crisis.
“Eze went behind our backs to buy the land from the defendant and resold it to make gain, thereby messing up the crisis that brought us to his palace,” Ihentuge stated.
Following the alleged transaction, Mr. Ihentuge said he was arrested by operatives of the Imo State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He was granted bail but is now being pressured to sell his house or land and produce the money on Tuesday to settle a debt he insists he never incurred nor benefited from.
The complainant further declared that his life is no longer safe due to the development.
“Because of the blunder and actions of Eze Francis Ahanotu in this matter, my life is no longer safe. If anything untoward happens to me or any member of my family, HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu should be held responsible,” he warned.
Umuaka News24 reached out to the palace of the Iyi of Amiyi for his side of the story but is yet to receive a response as at the time of filing this report.
More details and evidence of the matter, according to the complainant, will be made public in subsequent publications.
When News24 Questioned why the complainant didn’t table the case to Amiyi platform, He told us that Eze Amiyi locked the Amiyi platform since nearly a year now and no one can talk there.
When we reached out to the PG of Amiyi, He redirected us to Eze to answer for himself.
This incident has sent ripples across Akahland, with many residents calling for calm and urgent intervention by relevant stakeholders to prevent further breakdown of peace or loss of life in this matter.
Umuaka News24 will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they unfold.
