Residents of Amiyi community have commended the proactive intervention of a Catholic priest from Nne Enyemaka Parish – FSSP Nigeria, who personally led efforts to drain a heavily waterlogged section of the Amiyi road.

The Reverend Father, whose actions have drawn widespread praise, was seen working alongside community members to clear blocked drainage and ease the persistent flooding that has made the road difficult for both pedestrians and motorists.

The affected portion of the road has long been a source of concern, especially during the rainy season, as stagnant water continues to hinder movement and pose health risks to residents.

Speaking with locals, many expressed gratitude for the priest’s humility and willingness to serve beyond his religious duties. They noted that such acts of leadership and community service are rare and deserving of recognition.

Community members have also called on relevant authorities to take more permanent action in addressing the drainage challenges facing the area, urging that the priest’s effort should serve as a wake-up call.

Umuaka News24 reports that the intervention has already improved access along the road, bringing temporary relief to residents and road users.
