In a dramatic turn of events, the custodians of EZIEKWU AFOR have come out strongly to condemn the sacrilegious shutdown of AFOR UMUAKA because of birthday celebrations of an individual.
In a gathering of EZIEKWU adherents, the people were very furious that the revered market was purportedly closed because of birthday celebrations of Njaba Local Government Chairman. They expressed dismay that such action was even contemplated without anyone consulting them who hold the offor of the market and part of the traditional authorities that oversee its operations. They made solemn invocations against the people involved and instructed that they must make reparations for their atrocious behaviour.
According to the Chief Priest who made the pronouncements, atonements have to be made by the culprits to avert spiritual repercussions for their actions. He stated that even during the civil war, the market was never closed at any point. He also reminded everyone that the market has been in existence long before colonialism and the establishment of state government that followed.
They demanded that the leadership of the so-called Market Association be promptly changed and anyone that participated in disruption of the market activities be removed from any position of power.
