Sources claim that Dr. Eddy Dike, Rector of Niger Delta City Polytechnic Umuaka campus, who hails from Nnerim Isu L.G.A has been given the green light to proceed with the conversion of the whole space into his privately run poly campus.

According to rumors Dr. Dike has long boasted about his wishes that the hospital closed and his plans to transform the hospital into a school and it appears that this plan is now materializing. Sources close to Umuaka News24 allege that the individual collecting rent from the polytechnic has now granted Dr. Dike full authority to proceed with the conversion with the condition that an increased rent will continue to be paid to them.

The source also alleges that Amiyi feels it won’t be easy to fix the hospital and get it started under Amiyi due to the controversies surrounding the hospital and the tension it will create in Umuaka. This development has sparked concerns that neither Umuaka as a whole nor the Amiyi community will benefit from the hospital’s services once the conversion takes place.

Questions are being raised about who is receiving rental payments from Niger Delta City Polytechnic and why the decision to convert the hospital was made without consulting both Umuaka as a whole and the Amiyi community?
