A son of Umuaka, Mr. Nzubechi Odumodu from Umuoka Umuele, Amazano, has raised an urgent alarm over the arrest and continued detention of his brother by operatives of Tiger Base, Owerri.
According to the family, the young man returned home briefly for a relative’s burial. After the burial, he rode a family member on a motorcycle to Ime Afor to board a bus back to base. On his way back, he was reportedly stopped by security operatives, arrested without explanation, and taken to Owerri.
The family insists that the young man committed no offence, stating that his only “crime” was being a youth. They further allege that police operatives are now demanding millions of naira for his release, money the family says they do not have.
Mr. Odumodu is appealing to Umuaka Honourables, elders, leaders, and well-meaning sons and daughters of Umuaka to urgently intervene, stressing that the family has no influence or connections.
“An innocent boy is being detained for no reason, except whatever allegation they may choose to label on him as a youth from Umuaka,” the family said.
Umuaka News24 therefore calls on relevant authorities and concerned leaders to look into this matter and ensure justice is served.
