By Austin C. Agbahiwe
(Keynote Speech Delivered at the Umuaka National Convention, Los Angeles, USA, August 30, 2025)
In a stirring keynote address, Austin C. Agbahiwe emphasized the urgent need for Umuaka communities to embrace “individual-collectivism” as a pathway to unity, development, and greatness. He highlighted the challenges of isolationism, leadership tussles, and disunity that have hindered progress since the creation of autonomous communities over 23 years ago.
Agbahiwe lamented the failure to preserve the infrastructural legacies left by past heroes and called for a shift from ego-driven struggles to collective action. He pointed to successful examples like Mbaise and Arochukwu, where unity and synergy have driven sustainable development and political influence.
The speech explored the balance between individual autonomy and collective well-being, urging communities to prioritize collaboration in resource management, cultural conservation, and social development. Agbahiwe challenged Umu Umuaka bina America, the diaspora community, to take the lead in driving unity and development, leveraging their resources and influence to create lasting change.
He concluded with a passionate call to action, encouraging all Umuaka people to embrace unity, strategic planning, and collective leadership to build a brighter future. Agbahiwe’s message was clear: the choice is ours, and the time for action is now.
Umuaka kwenu! Ekenekwa mu unu!! May God bless Umuaka!!!
