According to the exclusive information received by Umuaka News24, some aggrieved young men from all the 9 villages of Umuaka have reached out and made a resolution that every shop owned or operated by any Amiyi person in Afor Umuaka must be closed down and or reallocated to new owners as a warning to Amiyi of what is to follow next following the seizure of an Umuaka-owned Hospital located around their vicinity.

It is well noted that Eze Iyi and his cabinet, in defiance of all calls by the indigenous people of Umuaka, have refused to come to a round table agreement on how to collectively revamp the jointly owned hospital. The committee set up by Lawmaker Ezengwori has also failed to salvage the situation. As a result, the group believes that the best way to get through this would be by force.

Umuaka News24 can confirm that the group also proposes to stage a public, all-Umuaka inclusive protest to the palace of Eze Iyi and the hospital soon to register their anger.

Speaking to Umuaka News24 through our official WhatsApp number +44 7918 284309 on Sunday 6th July 2025, the leader of the group from Ugbele, who prefers to remain anonymous for now, said;

“Part of the land in that hospital belongs to my family. Amiyi people are being unreasonable. Our people are dying because of lack of proper hospital in the area. Look at St. Mary’s Umuowa. When our hospital here was functional, St. Mary’s was just learning work. By now, this is supposed to be one of the biggest hospitals in Imo State if not for this nonsense mentality Amiyi is showcasing. That hospital is a great asset that must be recovered and made functional to save our people.”

The group leader further stated, “We are starting our consultations and meetings, and very soon, the first approach will be to chase Amiyi out of the Afor Umuaka which they are denying to be part of, and then other things will follow including summoning leaders of Amiyi to Appear before Ezekwu Afor. Enough is enough. We have taken this joke too far, and this is time to act. We were quiet because our people are currently dealing with insecurity, but the more we keep calm, the more they cause more damage. We will keep you people updated,, just waiting for Oghu season to go past too” he concluded.
