Tragic Incident in Umuaka Tipper Park: Sand Loader Killed Amid Police Shooting, Second Death in 48 Hours

Umuaka is reeling from yet another tragedy, as Chukwudi A.k.A Otaukwu, a sand loader from Umuezikukwu Uba, was fatally run over by a tipper driven by Hitila,who hails from the same village, at Umuaka Tipper Park. The incident occurred approximately 10 minutes into a police shooting operation, during which Umuaka police fired bullets from a distance, reportedly to disperse a crowd. The harassing gunshots around ime-afor down to Iheise uba road sparked widespread panic, causing Hitila to attempt to flee the scene, inadvertently striking Chukwudi. Despite efforts to rush him to Friendship Hospital, Chukwudi succumbed to his injuries before arrival.

This devastating loss comes barely 48 hours after Umuaka mourned the death of a nurse Anna Nwa Ezemmuo(Nee Odikannwa Obeakpu) from Ugbele-Akah, killed by stray bullets during an exchange from police operations in the area. The back-to-back incidents have heightened fear and outrage in the community, with residents questioning the safety of police tactics.
