Time changes everything. The world has become a global village —interconnected and interdependent. Technology has made it possible for anyone to communicate with anybody anywhere in the world, no matter how highly or lowly placed.

You can be in the most remote part of the world but with an Internet connection, you have the ability to send a message to even the richest man in the world. Elon Musk, the present richest man in the world, responds to people on social media. Same as Jeff Bezos and other dollar billionaires. Who are you and what is your level?

Social media has obliterated access barriers and eliminated high horses.

Unfortunately, some conceited individuals still ignorantly live in the past. They arrogate to themselves a class that has outlived its usefulness.

Refusing to engage in online interaction does not elevate your status but demonstrates your ignorance of the utility of modern advancements.

As you revel in your vainglory, you must know that the world has left you behind. You’re not more important than the people interacting online. You need to get off your high horse and embrace reality of modern times.

Whatever height you think you have attained or personal achievement that makes you feel highly of yourself is actually immaterial. Times have changed and nobody is expected to worship you regardless of whether you consider yourself educated or wealthy as that is not relevant in our contemporary society.

If you consider yourself a ‘big man’, you’re possibly only big for yourself and perhaps your immediate family. People don’t give a hoot about your ego and you should not expect the populace to be subservient to you.

The era of arrogance emanating from bigmanism is gone in our communities as access to wealth is no longer the exclusive preserve of few.

Humble yourself in the public if you don’t want to be disparaged.

The big man you were yesterday has lost its levers and you’re now a former big man.
