A visit to the Okoro family residence by Umuaka News24 correspondence has revealed a scene of desolation and trauma, following the violent attack on Mrs. Eunice Mgbengasha Okoro’s funeral ceremony.
The two corpses that was left overnight after the shooters took the other body away, have been removed and taken to Umuaka Mortuary, while the food prepared for the ceremony was damaged.
Eyewitnesses report that over 20 people sustained gunshot wounds, with many others, mostly elderly, suffering non-gun related injuries while fleeing for their lives.
A staggering 50+ people are currently hospitalized, including one individual who had over 35 local bullets removed from his body.
The Okoro family has expressed shock and apologies to the Umuaka community, stating that they cannot explain the circumstances that led to the tragic events.
The community remains in a state of shock, with the family’s cow, given to Umuolu, still shot and injured.
