Echoes of Fear in Our Communities
Once thriving with business and human activity, our communities are now eerily quiet, resembling ghost towns.
Families have abandoned their homes, the youth have fled, and the elderly, men, and women are left behind, their faces filled with uncertainty.
Those with no escape are left to the mercy of fate, enduring the constant fear of gunfire and bombings. The whole thing is taking a toll on their health, raising blood pressure, and causing immense stress.
From Umuele, Obeakpu to Amakor, fear has overtaken everyone—women and children alike. No one knows when the next round of shooting or bombing will start.
We cry out for peace, for our communities and that normalcy will return back to our communities.
Zimbo writes from Ama Okpor, Umuokpurufor, filled with fear and tears, frequently glancing at the sky.
