Documents available to Umuaka News24 and obtained from the National Archive, Enugu, from preserved colonial records in 1930 (94 years ago) clearly shows the order of communities in Umuaka at the time.

It shall be recalled that debates have been going on in social media spaces in Umuaka about who is senior between Obeakpu and Amakor.

While Obeakpu takes place before Amakor in the Amazano level, there’s a discrepancy in the Umuaka level arising from evident distortion, perhaps emanating from the advent of the Catholic Church in Umuaka and some projects that followed.

Because the order of listing was not challenged for a long time, some erroneously assumed that it indicates seniority.

This aberration of placing Amakor before Obeakpu has been corrected by the competent authorities in Amazano that comprise Umuele, Ibele, Obeakpu, and Amakor, but certain individuals in the Umuaka level are adamant and obstinate in perpetuating the anomaly.

This Umuaka Archived record shows the inconsistency in numbering Umuaka villages, which Justifies that we cannot use recent records as yardsticks to determine seniority.

It is Alleged that Initially umuaka comprised of six villages after the massacre of Ohewe village, a brother to Ugbele.

They later integrated One more village as stated in the document which then made Umuaka 6 villages in total Before Umuaka and Amaozor ano Merged together as aka ebeiri in order of sequence after rectification.
